Get your sparkle back with Amie Skincare range

Don’t you just HATE when you’re going to an important event and a little not-so-friendly-friend sprouts up, hitting you square in the face?  Seriously, I don’t think there is much worse than knowing that even four layers of concealer (mine is Urban Decay’s Naked Skin) won’t make that bad boy go away!  However, there’s an all-natural, vegan skin care range that will prevent this from ever* happening again.  Readers, meet the queen of skincare, Amie.

*You still might get spots but definitely not as frequently.

skincare-1 skincare-4

Amie is tagged with the slogan ‘naturally kind’ due to containing “Non-irritating ingredients” which are essential to keep your skin glowing bright and beautifully.  I myself have tried everything under the sun to cleanse my face (Freederm, Simple, Garnier etc etc. The list is seriously endless) and nothing comes close to how brilliantly clean and healthy my skin looks AND feels when I regularly use Amie.

Before hearing which products are my all-time favourite staples in my skincare routine, here is a simple rundown of the Amie Ingredients Policy:

  • No Mineral-oils
  • No parabens (which can occasionally be found in Keils products)
  • No petrochemicals
  • No GMO’s
  • No Sodium Laureth
  • No Sodim Lauryl Sulphate
  • No animal ingredients

I’ve been using the Amie skincare range for roughly 2/3 years now, and I seriously would never look into investing into anything else.  Not only is it suitable for vegans, vegetarians and those who are concerned with products of the cruelty-free variety, but all of the packaging is super cute – soft colours rather than garish-in-your-face florescent.

My favourite Amie Products

Morning Clear – Purifying Facial Wash

“A moisturizing facial wash for clear, soft skin”

This product is perfect for beginning your morning skincare routine.  Due to the texture of the product being super smooth, silky and light, the Morning Clear Facial Wash is a calming wakeup for your skin.  15% of the product contains a moisturising formula, which works wonders on dark circles and dry skin which is an absolute BONUS!  Price: £4.95

Radiant Dawn – Exfoliating Daily Wash

“Deep cleanses pores & exfoliates for clear & radiant skin”

While I use the Morning Clear facial wash specifically to gently kickstart my skin into life again, the zingy Radiant Dawn exfoliating wash is my staple go-to to ‘wash the day off of my face’.  Home from a long night at work, remove makeup, hop in the shower and this baby is straight on my face.  Repeat almost every single night.  Radiant Dawn features:

  • Green Apple
  • Lemon Extract
  • Blueberry Seed
  • Vitamin E bursting beads

The bursting beads give you a serious deep clean, scooping all the muck and foundation off your face and into the drain.  You can literally feel your skin becoming clean. I LAV IT! Price: £4.95

New Leaf – Deep Pore Exfoliating Polish

“Cleans pores deep for clearer, softer skin”

Packed full of natural rice granules and mango and orange blossom extracts, the New Leaf Exfoliating Polish is a real indulgence for the skin.

This product does ever-so-slightly more exfoliating than the Radiant Dawn wash however, due to the intensity of cleansing I only ever use this product twice a week in my skincare routine.

Although this product is geared more towards toning and refreshing those with both combination and oily skin, the polish is also perfect for those who are feeling a little bit dry.  Definitely worth incorporating into a self-care pamper session, along with a face mask , candles and maybe even some bubbles! Price: £5.95

Spring Clean – Deep Cleansing Mask

“Purifies pores, combats oiliness & blemishes”

Hands down my FAVOURITE Amie product is the Spring Clean clay mask.  I’ve recently just discovered how relaxed and shiny my skin feels after putting on a facemask (for the first time in January 2017, I am so late to the face mask hype) and this specific clay mixture does just that, as well as leaving you with an almighty tingling sensation.  Feel the blackheads melt away in 5-10 minutes by slapping this mask on your T-zone.  Go on, I dare you.

So, those are my favourite Amie products.  Are there any you would purchase yourself?  Or do you have other items in the range which you’re dying to enthuse about?  Don’t be shy to give me a tweet or Insta message by following me on both platforms.

Beauty | Micellar Cleansing Water Review

Everybody under the sun is or has already talked and squawked about this year’s version of a summer miracle. Yes, of course I’m talking about Garnier’s Micellar Cleansing Water. It’s all over the high street, the internet and our faces. But is it really so great? And how does it fair on sensitive and gentle skin that is prone to flaring up with an aggressive outbreak of spots.  I’ve put it to the test over the last four weeks and now I’m going to share #MyLoveForMicellar.

2016-08-04 10.47.50

2016-08-04 10.48.30

What it says on the bottle.

2016-08-04 10.49.44

The latest edition to the Garnier family is the Micellar Cleansing Water. I picked up the ‘even for sensitive skin’ bottle – opposed to the other two varieties – due to forever having sensitive issues with my skin. The last thing I wanted was to add too many aspects to the pot and end up with a face full of boils. Where I’m concerned, minimalism and simplicity is key.

Coming in 125ml and 400ml bottles, the latter (based on using 2ml per cotton pad) claims that it has up to 200 uses per bottle. Of course, if you’re like me and use four/five cotton wool pads lathered with the stuff every morning and every night… You can kinda guess that you won’t get two hundred uses out of it. But still – 400ml for £5 or less? Bargain City!

Claiming to be Hypoallergenic (extremely unlikely to cause an allergic reaction) as well as importantly opthalmologically tested. That ‘big’ word literally means that scientists who created the product at Garnier have tested the product accordingly with eye disorders and diseases in mind.

I have done some research and am yet to find whether this ophthalmological testing was conducted on animals so, please, if you have any information, leave it in the comments section below!

The product simply removes makeup from the face, eyes and lips, without the aid of perfume, while also cleansing and soothing. It’s a no-rinse product, so slap-it-on before you slap your slap on (slap) and you’re good to go!

The Micellar Cleansing Water comes in three varieties and three themed colours.

There’s the Micellar Oil-infused Cleansing Water (which has a grey bottle theme and is targeted at dry & sensitive skin).

There’s the Micellar Cleansing Water for combination & sensitive skin (which has a green theme and adds purifying and mattifying to the table).

And the third, original Micellar Cleansing Water, which is in a pink-themed bottle.

All bottles are in the same, easy to grab and aesthetically pleasing shape, making taking your makeup of as stylish and joyous as streaking it on.  I also find that because the bottle is made of a simple, transparent material (allowing you to fully see the substance inside) it almost seems purer and automatically better for your skin, compared to the crowd of over-complicated and harmful cleaners on the market. Also for colour chiefs, the coding of each bottle makes you want to purchase all three, even though you seriously don’t need to… There’s only so much face cleansing a gal can do!

How To Use?

Simple. Squirt as much – or as less – cleansing water as you desire onto your little cotton wool pad and wipe your face. Yep, that’s it. Wipe away honey bee. It removes your day/night makeup as well as cooly hydrating and cleansing your face. Easy as pie.

2016-08-04 10.49.03

I’ve never been one to take my makeup off. I’m that lazy girl who will sleep in last night’s party makeup and go to work in it the next day. However, since using the Cleansing Water I actually want and look forward to taking my makeup off at night. There’s seriously nothing like a fresh face to wake up in to start the day, and that is what the product specifically offers.

Since using the cleansing water, the redness on my face (rosy cheeks and constant flushing which I suffer from) has dimmed incredibly. My face feels clean, radiant and I can’t stop touching it. I’ve had no spot outbreak which is wondrous, and I honestly believe I’ve discovered a makeup remover which will suit my skin for an age.

A definite thumbs up from me on the Micellar Cleansing Water!

Have you had an experience with the Garnier poduct? What are your thoughts?

Side note: These results will not happen for everybody: this is not a product specifically designed to soften face redness. The results listed are my own, personal experiences with the product – every skin is different, love yours.

Beauty | Sexy Mother Pucker Lipgloss by Soap & Glory

Ah summer. In come the too short-shorts, the floral tea dresses and the ‘barely anything there’ makeup looks.  However, I’m not one of those girls who sits idol and waits until winter to uncover my love for drama and sparkles.  If it was acceptable to wear sparkles – other than the subtle pressed glitter in my Naked 2 and Smokey Eye pallats – I would.  24/7.  Therefore, who cares if it’s summer?  Gimme sparkles.

I’m more of a ‘bold eye, nude lip’ kinda chick – pretty much because I can never find a lipstick or a lipgloss which makes me ‘wow’, or make me look in the mirror and say “huh, your lips don’t look like plastic surgery gone wrong!”.  I’ve got very full, pointed lips – which means I usually shy away from anything which will make them even more prominent than they already are.

However, I have found a saving grace, incorporating my love for subtlety lips and sparkles – the infamous ‘Sexy Mother Pucker’ lipgloss, from Soap & Glory.

If you’re a high-street warrior, then you know exactly why Soap & Glory products are worth the hype.  As I’ve previously said, I’m more of a dramatic eye/eyeliner type, which means nothing to extreme on the lips.  However, a set of five 4ml Sexy Mother Pucker lipgloss practically fell into my hands from the S&G stand… And how could I say no to such pretty packaging?

The set comes with five, 4ml in: ‘Plumsup‘, ‘Bare Enough‘, ‘Candy Queen‘, ‘Nudestar‘ and ‘Spun Sugar‘.

As a sparkle horder, ‘Sugar Spun’ is my favourite out of the set.

For those who are in the dark – like I was – about Sexy Mother Pucker lipgloss, Soap & Glory have created a shiny lipgloss which is bursting with Superfill Lip Pumping Spheres (which leave your lips with strong, tingling sensations – essentially feeling your lips are taking over your face) as well as Lipswell Natural Plant Oil Infusion.  Basically – they make your lips feel fantastic, full of life, and ready to shamelessly pout.

The full-size version of the Sexy Mother Pucker lipgloss comes in a 7ml bottle, and is priced at a fair £9.  Considering a bareMinerals lipgloss will set you back £13, the Soap & Glory price comes out on top.

If, like me, you struggle with your lips but don’t want to leave them naked – then Soap & Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker lipgloss is for you.

If you’ve ever tried, loved or hated lipgloss – let me know in the comments!

Beauty | Roller Lash Mascara by Benefit Cosmetics

Fronting the Spring 2015 marketing campaign, entitled ‘Welcome To Glamourland’, with an ingenious range of new-yet-essential products, is San Francisco-based make-up giant, Benefit Cosmetics.  Keeping in with the previously-championed retro edge; this seasons new editions to the Benefit range are sweetly nostalgic, with poppy, evocative packaging throwing back to a simpler time where  mascara and blush were are only neccessitys.

Stepping up the game by enhancing the brands appeal, Benefit have chock-filled our stockings with new and exciting goodies this spring season.  New editions to the already bursting range include: ‘the POREfessional: license to blot‘ oil blotting stick (£15.50); ‘they’re real! push-up liner‘ (£18.50) and ‘they’re real! remover’ (£14.50); ‘Bathina “just confess you’re obssessed”‘ scented mist (£24.50); ‘majorette‘ – blusher (£23.50); ultra plush lip gloss – ‘rockateur‘ rose gold and ‘hervana‘ berry pink (both £14.50) and ‘puff off’ undereye gel (£22.50).

The main success and new firm favourite of this season however is the ‘roller lash mascara‘, a product which is in the running to give the infamous Benefit ‘they’re real! mascara’ a run for it’s money.

FullSizeRender (1)

Appearing with the slogan “such a pretty curl” and the affirmations that the mascara will “hook, lift and curl”; the newest addition to the Benefit family claims we can say “bye-bye eyelash curler”.  Could this be perhaps overhype and over-confidence from the Benefit camp?

FullSizeRender (2)

Equipped with a specially-designed ‘Hook n’ Roll’ brush, roller lash is the essential ingredient needed to make eyes visibly become the talk of the town.  The product you ‘didn’t know you needed until you used it’; roller lash coats eyelashes perfectly for up to twelve hours, while living up to what it says on the bottle: lifting, defining and curling eyelashes.

FullSizeRender (3)

With the results of 97% of women agreeing the mascara visibly lifts lashes (survey of thirty-one women after four weeks usage), enhancing the overall appeal to the product (not to mention the beyond wonderfully feminine, baby-pink/black contrast packaging), the thought that once you go roller lash you can never go back doesn’t go amiss.

The results are startling.  You can see my experimentation with the roller lash mascara in the images below.  This product is the future of Benefit, and soon-to-be ultimate game-changer.

roller lash mascara, from Benefit Cosmetics, is available to purchase in Boots for £19.50.
